Jeff Fletcher: Home Inspector
Jeff Fletcher
Jeff@FletcherInspections.com

A friendly and very knowledgeable home inspector, Jeff owned a construction company through 2000, restoring and renovating historical homes and building new homes. He founded Fletcher Inspections, Inc in 2001 on the recommendation of a real estate investor and has done over 3,000 home inspections. He treats all of his clients like family and welcomes questions during and after the home inspection. Jeff is a National Instructor for AHIT (The American Home Inspectors Training Institute). He is a member of The National Association of Home Inspectors (NAHI) and holds a Certified Real Estate Inspector rank with NAHI. Jeff has recently been elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Ann Arbor Area Board of Realtors. He also serves on the Board of Trustees for the church he attends in Saline. When asked how he has built Fletcher Inspections, Inc into the most trusted home inspection company in the industry he said “I hire really nice home inspectors who care about people and train them to do every home inspection as if they were doing it for their own family.”

Derek Lewis: Home Inspector
Derek Lewis, CRI
Derek@FletcherInspections.com

Prior to joining Fletcher Inspections Inc in 2005, Derek was a full time licensed builder/remodeling contractor. His career in the building trades began in San Francisco, California in 1977 renovating Victorian homes and buildings. He also worked for several years as a mortgage loan officer and for several years as a licensed Realtor™. Returning to Michigan, in 1980, he opened and operated two Kitchen & Bathroom Design/Remodeling showrooms and cabinet shops that served both new construction and remodeling clients. In 1990 he expanded his contracting services to include all types of remodeling for residential and commercial buildings. In 2000 he completed the “National Association of Home Builder” CAPS training program and earned his “Certified Aging in Place Contractors”, designation, renovating homes to accommodate clients needs as they grow older. Born of Deaf parents, he can speak ASL (American Sign Language) and communicate with deaf clients.

Derek brings to the inspection process his background in real estate. His goal is to assist buyers in evaluating properties they are considering for purchase. He inspects each property for his clients with the same scrutiny, as if a close family member were buying it. Taking time on each inspection to explain how things work and how to maintain your new home.

While Derek still holds an active builders license, #2101141952, he is a full-time, certified home inspector with eight years of experience conducting home inspections for Fletcher Inspections, Inc., and is close to completing 3,000 home inspections.  Derek has earned the designation of CRI, Certified Real estate Inspector, awarded by the National Association of Home Inspectors, NAHI. Available for inspections seven days a week, and most holidays, Derek looks forward to meeting and working with you on your home inspection.

Tom Carmichael: Home Inspector
Tom Carmichael
TCarmichael@FletcherInspections.com

Tom was a residential carpenter and eventually foreman of a rough framing crew for nine years starting in 1995. He worked primarily as a subcontractor for Pulte homes building hundreds of houses right here in Washtenaw County. As the market slowed and houses were harder to come by, he went back to school to pursue a construction field related degree. While attending WCC he worked part time on a siding/ roofing crew out of Saline that did home improvements. At Washtenaw he excelled in math and science which is what lead to the decision to become an engineer. He graduated WCC with an associate degree in math and physical science.

He was accepted into the civil engineering program at Lawrence Technological University in 2006. In the same year he accepted an apprenticeship on the staff of an engineering firm that had a contract to work the Ann Arbor resurfacing street projects. When he received his BS in Civil Engineering in 2009, he became a full time employee at the company and began serious work in the industry. He was a senior materials testing technician, which made him responsible for concrete testing, soil stability and compaction, and asphalt testing and extraction. He is still currently certified as a level I technician for concrete by the American Concrete Institute (ACI) and Michigan Concrete Association (MCA) and am MDOT certified in Soils and Aggregates.

The need for year round work and more flexibility to spend time with his family facilitated the need to leave the commercial/ municipal field and transition back to his first love of residential construction.
